These are some of my babies. They are all grown from seeds collected in my
garden. Most are hand pollinated, but a few are from bee pods. They are still
being evaluated in the garden.

6 Fall child of 'Alascape' |
|
This slide and the next are from the same cross. They bloomed for the first time in 2003. Both parents have good clumping behavior and are excellent garden plants, but draw little attention on the show bench. |

Really ugly flowers |
|
The only saving grace for these flowers is that they routinely bloom 2 weeks before anything else. |

3-fall |
|
This first year seedling has great substance. The pod parent is a 6-fall with good substance. The pollen parent is a 3-fall with less substance, but excellent branching. |

My favorite cross |
|
The seedling came from 'Iapetus' x 'Snowy Hills'. Two of the siblings are darker and have much more vigor than this one. This is a first year bloom. In subsequent years, it's siblings out grew it. One of them earned a "Best Seedling" in 2003. |

A little too heavy |
|
'Iapetus' is the pod parent for this cross also. This first year bloom was dissapointingly short and it didn't open properly. The richness of the color is hard to ignore.

And it's sibling |

This flower from the same seedpod is a littler lighter, but it will have to show me a lot more this year to stay in my garden. |

Open Pollinated from 'King's Court' |
|
'King's Court' rarely sets bee pods for me and I quite frankly had not considered using it in hybridizing. I've been watching these 4 seedlings for several years and like them more each year. |

Not my favorite flower |
|
This flower leaves me a little cold, but visitors to my garden gravitate to it. It's a quick grower. The second year seedling had over 40 bloomstalks! |

A view of a seedling patch. |

These seedlings were all bee crosses. Most were treated with colchicine, attempting to induce tetraploidy. It didn't work. |

Petaloids |

This seedling was a huge surprise. It is a bee cross--and the parent is a very plain 3 fall. |

Child of 'Prairie Glory' |

This flower is darker than its parent. In bud, it looks like it will open to look like 'Japanese Pinwheel'. I could only wish. |

Pink Blush |
|
This short early bloomer didn't really catch my eye the first year it bloomed. It wasn't until I was looking at slides in the depth of winter that I took note of it. I haven't been able to get it to bloom over 24". |

Sectional Chimera |
|
This seedling was treated with colchicine. It did not do what it was supposed to do, but it did produce a sectional chimera. This is the first bloom and the photo has not been retouched. Fortunately, I had visitors in the garden that day, because the second flower did not demonstrate the same coloration. |
